To many, Memorial Day is the long weekend which ushers in the summer season... It is a day of cookouts and swimming... However this very important Holiday traces it's roots back to 1868 when it was a day first set aside to honor those who lost their lives in the Civil War. Now it is a day of reflection when we remember those who lost their lives in service to our country in past and present conflicts. In this "It's all about me" Culture we find ourselves in, it's wonderful to have a day set aside to honor those brave men and women who didn't just speak the words service and sacrifice, but lived them, and died in the process of rendering that service. They remind us that "Freedom isn't Free."
We here at IllustrateMyLife.com remember our brave heroes and their families and we hope that you take time to remember those brave men and women who gave their tomorrows for our todays.
Yes, we know this is after Memorial Day, but so many commemorate Memorial Day on the day itself, if at all...we want to focus on Memorial Day every day...
